The film starred Ajith Kumar, Trisha Krishnan and Rajkiran in pivotal roles with Vivek, Saranya, Cochin Haneefa and Santhanam in other roles. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar. Kireedom started its first filming schedule on 15 December and was originally scheduled for release on 1 May 2007, coinciding with Ajith’s birthday; however, its release was eventually delayed to 20 July 2007.
